The whole of Tirap district, enthusiastically observed the 3rd International Yoga Day and the day was commemorated by cleanliness driver at the premises and Yoga sibirs. At Khonsa, the district H/Q, the Deputy Commissioner Ravi Jha, IAS, alongwith head of departments participated in the yoga camp conducted by District Administration at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Khonsa. Miss Sancha Tesia and Shri Hohom Kanglom of Arun Jyoti Khonsa were the instructors, who had imparted yoga training in a very simple and commendable way. The camp was attended by students, public leaders, teachers and other staffs from various departments. District Administration also had arranged similar camps at Khonsa Town Club for public wherein Khonsa Bazar Welfare Committee, President Tingwang Hosai, Nokju Wanghop, President ATWS All Tutsa Welfare Society, Secretary KBWC Nahang Tangjang participated the camp alongwith the huge participants from Khonsa town market dwellers and traders. At SPs office, Khonsa Yoga camp was conducted for the police and schools for the children. At Bo-Peep Middle School, Khonsa, Tirap ZPC Smti Sontung Lowang Bangsia along with WWA (Women Welfare Association), Khonsa took part alongwith teachers and students. Reports have been pouring in from various villages and schools, like Lapnan, R.K. Mission School, Narotamnagar, R.K. Sarada Mission Girls School, Khonsa. 55-Khonsa East MLA Wanglam Sawin join the International Yoga Day celebration at Lapnan village alongwith villagers, students and Panchayat leaders. At ADC H/Q, the IYD was celebrated at Community Hall Deomali wherein ADC Penga Tato, including HoDs and Public actively participated on the occasion. The day was also celebrated by 36TH Battalion of Central Reserve Police, Khonsa also observed 3RD International Yoga Day wherein Mr. Satya Ranjan Behura, Commandant graced the occasion. Earlier gracing the occasion Ravi Jha, IAS Deputy Commissioner, Khonsa addressed the participants at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Khonsa and brief on the relevance and significance of participating yoga for good health and well being.

How to Reach :  
1. By Train There is no direct train service to Tirap. The nearest railway stations are at Dibrugarh (120 km), Tinsukia (110 km) or Naharkatia (70 km) in Assam . From these places, daily bus/taxi service is available to the district headquarter, Khonsa. It takes approximately 3 hours each from Dibrugarh and Tinsukia and approximately 2 hours from Naharkatia to reach Khonsa. There is a daily Rajdhani Express and Brahamputra Express from New Delhi to Dibrugarh / Tinsukia via Guwahati. The train bookings may be done online at the site 2. By Bus Both Govt. and private deluxe bus services are available between Guwahati and Dibrugarh/Tinsukia. Night service is also available. Then from Dibrugarh or Tinsukia onwards, buses of Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Service (APSTS) to Khonsa have a daily service. Many private taxis / buses also ply on this route. Khonsa has recently been connected to State capital Itanagar by a daily direct bus service of APSTS. 3. By Air Dibrugarh is connected to Guwahati by air through 2 daily flights. It also has a direct daily flight to New Delhi (Jetlite - From Dibrugarh onwards, taxi or bus service is available. Dibrugarh is also connected to State Capital Itanagar by a daily helicopter (except Sundays) service (operated by Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh). Once a week, the helicopter also lands at Khonsa helipad from Dibrugarh. The time-table is however subject to change and exact prevailing timings may be ascertained from helipad at Itanagar (Ph No. 0360-2243262).
